Bolton & Menk has an exciting opportunity for a Survey Field Technician II to join our Survey team in our Ames office. With over 75 years of experience, Bolton & Menk specializes in providing community infrastructure solutions across the Midwest, Southeast, and beyond.ResponsibilitiesPlan and organize survey field activities timely and accurately.Work as a one-person crew or lead a multi-person field crew.Operate robotic total stations, GPS equipment and data collectors.Perform field work for land surveying scopes of work including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA/ASCM, topography surveys and performing routine survey/engineering computations for various project types.Transfer files between data collectors and internal company project folders.Preparing construction documents and recording data in field booksMaintain productive working relationships with all clients and coworkers.Include shoveling, lifting heavy objects, operating motor vehicles and small power equipment.Overnight travel will be required.QualificationsAssociate's Degree in Land Surveying Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field from an accredited post-secondary institution OR equivalent training or experience.3-8 years of related survey experienceCertified Survey Technician Level II or capable of obtaining within 6 months of hire.Ability to perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence.Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable at the Firm's standard rates. A motor vehicle record (MVR) check is a standard condition of employment.Physical RequirementsPhysically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignmentsAbility to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural, or urban surroundings.Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distancesBolton & Menk will currently not be providing visa sponsorship or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students.
