Survey Instrument OperatorWestwood Professional Services, Inc. is currently seeking a qualified full‑time Survey Instrument Operator. This position will work with a survey crew chief in the field collecting data to support design activities, boundary surveying, providing sketches, and layout to support construction activities. This position requires extensive travel to project sites.Job TypeFull-timeResponsibilitiesDischarge duties as requested by Crew ChiefPerform field work for land surveying scopes of work including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA, and topography for various project typesOrganize survey truck, survey equipment and survey supplies as necessaryOperate GPS, total stations, scanners, and data collectorsTransfer files between data collectors and internal company project foldersMaintain productive working relationships with clients and coworkersAdhere to the company's Safety, Quality Management and Equipment Maintenance policiesEnsure division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey serviceLead by example - display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalismPhysical RequirementsPhysically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignmentsAbility to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural, or urban surroundingsAbility to lift 50 pounds and walk long distancesAbility to work in outdoor conditions, subject to weather, insects, and changing environmentsRequired ExperienceAbility to work under guidance of a survey crew chief and take training and mentorshipMust be able to operate a total station and GPS in both static and RTK modes surveying activities pertaining to control networks, boundaries, ALTA's, topography, and construction stakingMust be able to operate a motor vehicle with a valid license and clean driving historyOSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid, or the ability and willingness to acquire itMust be able to perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independenceBasic "office suite" computer skillsPreferred ExperienceAn Associate's Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related area of studyLand Development, both Commercial and Residential, and Public Infrastructure ProjectsCoordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staffExperience searching for/recovering boundary monuments in the Public Land Survey System and metes and bounds statesFAA Part 107 UAS LicenseAbility to travel and remain on a project site for extended periods (must have the capability of self‑funding the total amount of expenses until reimbursement can be disbursed)Equal Employment OpportunityWestwood provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
