Survey Instrument Person

Instrument Person - Ellicott City, MD

We're partnering with a growing surveying and geospatial firm seeking an Instrument Person to join its Ellicott City field team. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with surveying experience who wants exposure to a wide variety of projects and the opportunity to develop into a Party Crew Chief over time.

Responsibilities

• Support the Party Chief with day-to-day field surveying operations

• Operate robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS, levels, and other survey equipment

• Collect accurate field data for boundary, topographic, construction stakeout, control, and infrastructure surveys

• Set up and maintain survey instruments and equipment

• Assist with establishing control, elevations, points, and benchmarks

• Maintain accurate field notes and survey records

• Work closely with the Party Chief to complete field assignments safely and efficiently

• Travel to project sites throughout the region as required

Qualifications

• Prior surveying or related field experience preferred

• Experience operating total stations, GPS/GNSS, or similar survey equipment strongly preferred

• Familiarity with construction staking, topographic, boundary, or control surveys is a plus

• Ability to read basic plans, maps, and survey information

• Comfortable working outdoors and traveling to project sites

• Valid driver's license

• Strong reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
