Job Description:
This position will oversee our day-to-day Survey team operations including topographic surveys, mapping, ROW plans production, ALTA Surveys, legal descriptions, and Geospatial. The successful candidate will work in a team environment with other teams in support of a variety of private and public works projects. This is a career position with excellent salary and benefits.
Division Leader Duties:
• Responsible for the Survey group’s organization, work schedules, resource assignments/needs, equipment maintenance/use, and the efficiency of the group to produce quality work
• Responsible for overseeing all Survey activities including topographic surveys, preparation of ALTA surveys, plats, legal descriptions, exhibits, right-of-way maps, as-builts, and other deliverables.
• Identifies needs for annual budgeting (i.e., staff, tools, software, etc.)
• Assists in the development of yearly business plans;
• Direct/review fieldwork performed for assigned projects;
• Direct/review CADD staff in the performance of assigned projects.
• Reduce field notes and check reductions and calculations made by others.
• Coordinates within the group for project resource needs, staff assignments
• Assess and assures that staff have the necessary tools to perform effectively and efficiently
• Assists and/or leads in the preparation and production of SOQs, SOWs Technical and Fee Proposals in AZ and other states.
• Ensures that staff are being utilized to their fullest extent – hit target goals for utilization
• Leads efforts to hire new and/or replacement staff specific to the discipline
• Early Identification of Opportunities - Review of technical and economic proposals
• Lead Business Development and Marketing efforts in AZ and CA
• Lead Meetings with Project Managers.
• Keeps Practice Leader informed of production status and issues
Project Manager Duties:
• Facilitates as “Project Main Point of Contact” with client and sub-consultant;
• Coordinates technical requirements with the project team;
• Manages and reviews the performance of projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality;
• Coordinates resources with the project team, as necessary
• Reviews and Provides Comments/Recommendations to Practice Leader before Final Signatures
• Reviews and Negotiates Contract Fees and sub-consultant Fees while coordinating with Practice Leader
• Monitors and Manages all Accounting reporting items such as Project AR, Unbilled Labor, and CTC.
• Utilizes CAD platforms to manage projects, produce drawings, and provide client deliverables as necessary to hit client deadlines
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):
• Arizona Registered Professional Land Surveyor in good standings. Registration in CA, NV, IN, CO, TX is a plus. CFED is also desirable.
• High school or equivalent. College-level classes are a plus.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of Survey and ROW experience
• Training with an emphasis on topographic and boundary survey, research, drafting, and mapping
• Surveying background including experience with optical instruments as well as GPS, both static and RTK
• Familiar with both Trimble and Leica field instruments and processes
• Must have experience with public agency projects (such as county, city, or state) and their ROW departments. ADOT ROW experience is a plus.
• A high degree of proficiency using CADD (AutoCAD or MicroStation) software
• Experience with coordinate geometry, transformations, scale factors, and any projections
• Have general computer skills in Microsoft Office environment including Word, Excel, Outlook. Access, Project, and PowerPoint are a plus.
• Experience in doing static GPS post-processing and some GIS
• Experience using aerial mapping & satellite photography
• Experience in applying laser scanning and drone technology to projects
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and possesses strong communication skills
