Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Work involves performing technical work as part of the survey team office staff, including preparing and updating digital survey maps and sketches, inputting Geographic Information System (GIS) data; researching deeds and plats, exhibits of boundary, topographic, construction, as-built, and geodetic surveys; creating survey maps, sketches, and exhibits using digital drafting software and performing survey calculations. Responsibilities also include creating and populating GIS databases, integrating spatial data, preparing GIS asset maps and reports, and converting CAD drafting data to GIS products. May be required to work in the field to verify field notes and support field staff as necessary.Responsibilities Perform technical survey support tasks as part of a team, including:Prepare and update digital survey maps and sketchesInput GIS data and research deeds/plats; prepare boundary, topographic, construction, as-built, and geodetic surveysCreate survey maps, sketches, and exhibits using digital drafting softwarePerform survey calculations for traverse, vertical network, property lines, sectional breakdowns, and construction layoutCreate and populate GIS databases; integrate spatial data; prepare GIS asset maps and reportsConvert and extract CAD drafting data into GIS productsMay assist field staff and verify field notes as neededQualifications Survey Office Tech I: Six (6) months of CAD drafting or GIS input experience; OR twenty-four (24) semester hours (or thirty (30) quarter hours) towards a technical degree in Surveying, Engineering, CAD, Drafting, Mathematics, Geography, GIS, or a related field.Survey Office Tech II: Two (2) years of CAD drafting or GIS input and mapping experience; OR one (1) year (30 semester or 45 quarter hours) towards a technical degree in Surveying, Engineering, CAD Drafting, GIS, Geomatics, or related field.Survey Office Tech III: Three (3) years of civil or survey drafting or GIS data entry/map production; OR two (2) years towards a technical degree in Surveying, CAD Drafting, GIS, Geomatics; plus one (1) year of CAD drafting or GIS input and mapping experience.Survey Office Tech IV: Four (4) years of civil or survey drafting or GIS data entry/map production; OR three (3) years towards a technical degree in Surveying, CAD Drafting, GIS, Geomatics; plus one (1) year CAD drafting or GIS input and mapping experience. Special requirements: complete Florida Law course with passing score within six (6) months; complete Brevard County leadership course within twenty-four (24) months (examples listed). Additional qualifying education/experience may be substituted year-for-year for all vacancies.Special requirements for all applicants: Must possess or obtain a valid Florida driver's license prior to employment and maintain it. Must obtain within nine (9) months of employment an FDOT Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) / Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and maintain it during employment. Must complete Brevard County Mandatory Training for new employees within nine (9) months.
