Survey Operations Analyst supporting Field Operations – Part-time

NORC at the University of Chicago is looking to hire a highly motivated individual for data analysis and reporting work for our Field Operations Department.  This is a Part-time (internally called Intermittent) role, working approximately 15-20 hours per week.

Working closely with Field Operations management team, the Survey Operations Analyst is responsible for a broad range of critical management functions, overseeing data, reporting, and analysis for various functional areas of the facility and in-field studies. Activities include paradata extraction, analysis and reporting, productivity analysis and reporting, quality assurance related tasks, methodological improvement, and financial reporting.

Location: This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago Loop office, with regular in-office presence as needed.

Field Operations is primarily responsible for collecting data in support of NORC studies, in a timely and efficient manner, while meeting the highest standards for quality and integrity. The department staffs 800-1200 interviewers across all states with expertise in multi-mode data collection practices.  Field Operations collaborates across research areas, support departments to coordinate project plans, and ensure appropriate resources are applied to achieve data collection success.

Field Managers provide direction and support to our Field Data Collectors and are often involved in the hiring and training process.  They are additionally responsible for managing production and cost targets while assuring data quality.

• Extracts, compiles, and validates operational and productivity data for survey projects.

• Produces recurring performance and productivity reports using established metrics and templates.

• Assists with monitoring data accuracy and resolving basic data quality issues.

• Conducts standard analyses and summarizes results for review by senior staff or

• management.

• Supports quality assurance activities and helps identify operational trends or issues.

• Maintains documentation of reporting processes, metrics, and procedures.

• Assists with setup and maintenance of data sources or databases under guidance.
• 
  
• Supports special projects such audits or preparation of training materials.
• 
  
• Collaborates with project teams and management to support reporting and operational needs.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• 
  
• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Survey Methodology, Statistics required.
• 
  
• At least 1 year of relevant prior field survey operations experience.
• 
  
• The successful candidate is a person with business acumen, superior analytical skills and a proven track record for identifying and solving problems.

• Ability to meet deliverable timelines, identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.

• Attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills, oral and written.

• Significant experience with Excel is required.

• Experience with Access and SAS highly desirable.

• Experience with survey research is a plus.

• Experience with JavaScript is a plus.

• Experience with CallMiner is a plus.

• Willing to work flexible hours, approximately 15-20 hours per week, but could vary week to week.

The pay range for this position is $29.59 – $37.00/hour. 

This position is classified as intermittent. Intermittent staff are eligible to participate in NORC’s retirement program. NORC contributes directly to this account without any required employee contributions.  In addition, intermittent staff are eligible to make pre-tax or post-tax contributions as part of NORC’s Supplemental Retirement Plan. Intermittent staff who meet tenure requirements are eligible for three days of holiday pay.
