Survey Project Manager / Senior Field Staff Manager - (Hybrid | Arizona-Based + Travel)
We are seeking a highly skilled and field-driven Survey Project Manager / Senior Field Staff Manager to lead land surveying operations across fast-paced datacenter and heavy civil construction projects. This is a high-impact leadership role for a survey professional who excels in precision, team leadership, and dynamic design-build environments.
Position Overview
This hybrid role serves as the onsite authority for survey control, construction layout, and digital survey workflows, managing multiple crews and CAD staff across large-scale projects. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in construction staking, as-built surveys, and data management, along with the ability to lead teams and adapt in rapidly evolving project environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all surveying operations for heavy civil and mission-critical (datacenter) projects
Manage and mentor multiple field survey crews and CAD technicians
Oversee construction layout and staking for civil, structural, and utility work
Direct and validate as-built survey data and documentation
Perform and review construction calculations and coordinate geometry
Interpret design plans and translate them into clear field execution strategies
Establish and maintain survey control networks using GPS and high-precision tools
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors in a design-build environment
Ensure adherence to quality control standards for survey deliverables
Manage survey data, reporting, and workflows using:
Trimble Business Center
Civil 3D & AutoCAD
Microsoft Office tools
Adapt to design changes and field conditions while maintaining schedule and accuracy
Oversee topographic, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and survey analysis
Lead crew performance, task delegation, and professional development efforts
Support broader project management functions related to survey operations
Required Qualifications
Strong proficiency in:
Trimble Business Center (TBC)
Autodesk Civil 3D & AutoCAD
Microsoft Office Suite
Extensive experience in:
Construction staking & layout (heavy civil)
As-built surveys and field verification
Survey calculations and coordinate geometry
Proven ability to interpret civil, structural, and utility plans
Hands-on experience with GPS surveying and control networks
Demonstrated leadership managing multiple crews and CAD staff
Strong communication skills and ability to lead in a fast-paced environment
High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and constructability

Rotation schedule:
Time at home
Travel to project site in Wink, TX
Office/remote work (Scottsdale or home)
Work conducted on active construction sites in a high-paced environment

Daily per diem (7 days/week while traveling)
