Survey Rod Man (Survey Technician I) — Civil Construction

We specialize in public works, water resources (including water and wastewater treatment plants), and site development, with expertise in underground utilities, roadway construction, and related civil infrastructure.
We are seeking a Survey Rod Man (Survey Technician I) to support our survey team in the field. This is an entry-level position focused on assisting survey crews with layout, measurements, and data collection on active construction projects. This role provides a strong foundation for career growth within construction surveying.
What You’ll Do
Field Support
- Assist the Survey Crew Chief with daily operations including equipment setup, materials, and jobsite organization
- Support survey layout activities for utilities, grading, and roadway construction
- Follow direction from the Crew Chief, Superintendent, and Survey Manager
Survey Operations
- Assist with basic survey tasks including rod holding, grade checking, and layout support
- Help with as-built data collection and verification
- Support interpretation of plans, elevations, and layout points under supervision
Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with crew members and field teams
- Contribute as a reliable and professional member of the survey crew
- Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic on active jobsites
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans (preferred)
- Strong basic math skills
- Good verbal communication skills

- PPE required at all times (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, high-visibility clothing)
- Reliable transportation to and from jobsites required

Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- 40-hour workweek; overtime as required
