Survey Staff Licensed Surveyor, Party Chief, and Survey Technicians

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of EBA's Survey team, your responsibilities may include:

  • Perform boundary, topographic, utility, right-of-way, as-built, and ALTA/NSPS surveys for a variety of public and private sector projects.
  • Operate survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, data collectors, digital levels, and laser scanning equipment.
  • Collect, process, and verify field data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Establish and recover survey control points, benchmarks, and project monuments.
  • Conduct field measurements and observations in accordance with established survey standards and procedures.
  • Prepare field notes, sketches, reports, and supporting documentation for survey projects.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of survey plats, maps, legal descriptions, and survey deliverables.
  • Coordinate survey activities with project managers, engineers, utility owners, contractors, and clients.
  • Utilize survey software and CAD platforms to process field data and prepare project deliverables.
  • Interpret engineering plans, deeds, plats, easements, and property records.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local surveying regulations, project requirements, and quality management procedures.
  • Maintain survey equipment, vehicles, and field supplies in good working order.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and OSHA requirements while working in the field and on active construction sites.
  • Travel to project sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior survey personnel and field crews.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and abilities:

  • Associate's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience performing land surveying, construction staking, or geospatial data collection.
  • Proficiency with GPS/GNSS equipment, robotic total stations, data collectors, and related survey technology.
  • Experience utilizing survey software such as Trimble Business Center, Carlson Survey, MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of surveying principles, coordinate systems, control networks, field procedures, and boundary surveying practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, plats, deeds, legal descriptions, and construction drawings.
  • Strong understanding of construction layout and stakeout procedures.
  • Familiarity with Maryland surveying standards, regulations, and right-of-way practices is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds; walking over rough and uneven terrain; standing for up to 12 hours a day on occasion; bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting; using hands to grasp and reach; raising hands above the head; sitting; climbing; and balancing
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Survey certifications such as CST (Certified Survey Technician) or progress toward professional licensure are preferred.
