Overview

The Survey Technician supports field data collection and documentation of underground and aboveground utilities on active construction sites. This role is primarily field-based and suited for someone comfortable working independently in a heavy construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform as-built surveys for utilities (water, sewer, storm, electrical, communications)
• Collect accurate field data using Trimble GPS, robotic total stations, and other survey equipment
• Work within project coordinate systems (RGK) to align with design plans
• Maintain organized field notes and survey data files
• Upload and transfer data for processing and reporting
• Identify discrepancies between design and field conditions
• Coordinate with project teams to meet schedules
• Follow safety procedures and maintain survey equipment

Requirements

• 2+ years of field surveying experience (construction/infrastructure)
• Experience with Trimble GPS and total station equipment (Leica a plus)
• Knowledge of as-built survey workflows and documentation
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Ability to work outdoors in active construction environments
• Valid driver's license

Preferred

• Experience with local coordinate systems (RGK)
• Background on large-scale projects (data centers/heavy construction)
• Interest in growth into roles like Crew Chief

Work Environment

• Primarily field-based (Saline, MI) on a large construction site
• 50-60 hour workweeks with occasional Saturdays
• Exposure to outdoor conditions and active job sites

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Flint, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
