Job Title: Survey Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Land Surveying Technician to support field and office surveying operations for active infrastructure and construction projects. This position plays a critical role in collecting accurate site data, supporting project control, and delivering high-quality mapping and documentation to project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and promote strict compliance with all safety policies and procedures in both field and office environments.
  • Perform 3D laser scanning and drone operations to capture existing site conditions.
  • Utilize digital leveling equipment to establish and verify highly accurate elevations for project control and benchmarks.
  • Operate traditional land surveying equipment including GPS and Total Stations to complete topographic and boundary surveys.
  • Interpret engineering plans to calculate horizontal and vertical control points for construction layout and execution.
  • Conduct property and boundary research to support survey deliverables and ensure accuracy of land records.
  • Support platting activities using 2D drafting tools.
  • Prepare and draft existing site conditions using various surveying and design software platforms.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in land surveying.
  • Proficiency with surveying technology such as GPS, Total Stations, and digital levels.
  • Experience with land surveying principles, techniques, and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of survey drafting and mapping software.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret engineering and construction plans.
  • Commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Exposure to 3D scanning and drone operations is preferred.
  • CAD experience is a nice to have.
  • Drone experience is a nice to have.

Work Environment

The position is based in Keokuk, IA, with work conducted primarily in the surrounding area. The role involves both field and office environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols and procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Keokuk, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $48.00/hr.
