Job Summary

Westat is seeking qualified candidates to make outgoing telephone calls to public and private K-12 schools to recruit their participation in a national survey for the National Science Foundation. This position requires working 5 days per week, Monday through Friday, at our Bethesda, Maryland, office, with working hours between 8:00am – 6:00pm.

Job Responsibilities

+ Contact schools that have not responded to our initial mailings to encourage principals to participate and designate a school coordinator to facilitate communication during data collection.

+ Work with administrative staff to help facilitate communication with principals.

+ Assist principal/designated staff in identifying the best person at their school to serve as school coordinator.

+ Ensure that principals have copies of the study materials to make an informed decision about the best person to serve as school coordinator.

+ Arrange to send replacement materials to principals.

+ Document all phone and email communication with schools using the internal study management system.

+ Independently manage a large volume of case assignments.

Basic Qualifications

+ Experience making outgoing phone calls.

+ Proficient with Microsoft Office, excel and online systems.

+ US citizenship is required by contract.

Preferred Qualifications

+ High school diploma or GED.

+ Experience making outgoing phone calls to public and/or private K-12 schools.

+ Experience with a survey management system.

+ Ability to summarize a conversation in writing using accurate spelling and grammar.

+ Strong communication skills.

+ Ability to quickly establish rapport with school staff.

+ Ability to think quickly and answer questions as appropriate.

+ Demonstrated attention to detail.

+ Professional courtesy and proper telephone and email etiquette.
