JR. SOUS CHEF (SUSHI)
SpaceX is looking for passionate, experienced individuals looking to join our culinary team! The Jr. Sous Chef plays a crucial role in the culinary department by overseeing kitchen inventory, focusing on food preparation set up.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and monitor inventory levels and ingredients
- Assist in establishing menu specifications
- Maintain quality by ensuring products are prepared according to guidelines
- Enforce food quality
- Ensure the safety of the physical kitchen and caf space
- Assist with and distribute work schedules
- Oversee front of house food preparation
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of sous chef or culinary management experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Sushi kitchen experience
- Degree in culinary arts
- Portfolio of culinary experience showcasing sushi expertise
- High volume production and catering experience
- Proven ability to create innovative menus on a daily basis
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Excellent communication skills
- Possess a creative spirit and ability to make the culinary experience part of the SpaceX culture
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Stand: Up to 10 hours per day
- Sit: Up to 3 hours per day
- Push/Pull: Up to 50lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per day
- Overhead reach: Up to 1 hour per day
- Walk: Up to 3 hours per day
- Lift/Carry: Up to 25lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per day
- Climb (ladder/stairs): Up to 1 hour per day
- Kneel/Crouch: Up to 6 hours per day
- Upper body twist: Up to 1 hour per day
- Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees up to 1 hour per day
