Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to performing all required duties of a Sushi Clerk, the Sushi Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities the Sushi department staff will perform. Responsibilities include; but are not limited to, planning, assigning, and directing work; staff development, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The Sushi Shift Supervisor will assist in overseeing the selling of all related items at the Sushi counter. They are also responsible for carrying out the duties listed below (other duties may be assigned)
Leads by example; models correct behavior and adherence to company policies and proceduresResponsible for using the tools provided by management to ensure the success of the departmentRequired to perform all essential duties of a Sushi ClerkFills customer's orders as requestedMake sushi following company instructions & recipes as providedResponsible for the accurate recording of customer transactions, including the acceptance of payment by the company cash register proceduresAssists with duties and examines work for compliance with policies and proceduresMust be knowledgeable of merchandise sold in the Sushi Department and educate customers and staff on the preparation and use of merchandiseAssists with ordering, receiving, and merchandisingAssists with orders of all Sushi and all related items for the departmentProcesses purchase orders for implementation at the required deadlineResponsible for implementing and maintaining all marketing programsAssists in training & developing all Sushi Department employees in product knowledge, suggestive selling techniques, merchandising techniques, & customer service skills on an ongoing basis

Customer Service SkillsSushi Shift Supervisors are expected to provide customer service that is extra ordinary and exceeds the expectations of our customers. They are required to follow established policies and guidelines that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. Sushi Shift Supervisors are expected to have a positive "can-do" attitude; to treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace.
Education and/or ExperienceHigh School diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, or employees of the company.
Knowledge Of EnglishThis is a customer service-driven position. The candidate must have the ability to communicate in English.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to resolve conflicts in such a manner to create a win-win situation. Ability to analyze a variety of situations, think through a solution, and implement the solution.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the Sushi Clerk is regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Sushi Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Sushi Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Sushi Clerk must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
This position may require to use of the following tools and equipment: box knife, baler, scanner, hand truck, POS, conveyer belt, industrial kitchen equipment (i.e. blast chiller, grill, knives/blades, oven, grills, scales, etc.), basic housekeeping / janitorial and standard office equipment.
Work EnvironmentWork occurs in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise levels, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures. There may be exposure to certain allergens and/or chemicals.
