Wright Technical Services is supporting a leading manufacturing organization in their search for a Sustaining Technician to support production, testing, and continuous improvement efforts across advanced welding and plasma cutting systems.

This role is focused on hands-on troubleshooting, product validation, and lifecycle support, working closely with engineering and operations teams to improve product reliability, manufacturability, and overall performance.

Job Description (Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Work in a team environment supporting production and sustaining engineering efforts
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced product and production-related technical issues
  • Track and resolve First Pass Yield (FPY) issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collect and analyze electrical measurement data from PCBs and returned field units
  • Review non-conforming components and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Provide technical support to production teams to minimize downtime and disruptions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Service, and Engineering teams
  • Support component obsolescence efforts through testing and evaluation of alternative components
  • Assist with new product introductions (NPI) to build product knowledge and support early-stage production
  • Perform testing and validation of design changes to ensure performance and compliance
  • Build and modify functional prototypes in a lab environment
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, design optimization, and process improvements
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership

Basic Requirements

  • Level II: Vocational training + 3+ years of experience OR GED + 5+ years of experience
  • Level III: Vocational training + 5+ years OR GED + 7+ years OR associate’s degree in related field
  • Experience with testing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics
  • Experience using digital multimeters (oscilloscope experience is a plus)
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing and lab environment
  • Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Hands-on mindset with ability to support physical testing and product work
