SVP Chief Information Officer

JPS Health Network is a $950 million, tax-supported healthcare system in North Texas. Licensed for 582 beds, the network features over 25 locations across Tarrant County, with John Peter Smith Hospital a Level I Trauma Center, Tarrant County's only psychiatric emergency center, and the largest hospital-based family medical residency program in the nation. Job Summary: Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates the overall operations and strategic direction of automated information collection, storage and processing for the hospital district; develops policies and procedures to provide timely and accurate patient care and business operations information that is secured and meets or exceeds all applicable internal and external privacy protection mandates; promote employee, patient and physician satisfaction, budgetary compliance and identification of departmental direction. Promotes collaborative relationships between Health Technology Services and hospital department heads to ensure the provision of automated services that support each respective department's patient care and/or support activities. Operates independently/autonomously in areas such as program development, conflict resolution, patient satisfaction and employee team facilitation.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

  1. Adhere to JPS Standard of Behaviors.

  4. Manage operation of Health Technology function for hospital district, determining the types and ratios of technical and professional staff necessary to provide accurate, secured electronic information and hardware support for patient services and business support departments.
  5. Select and develop personnel; ensure appropriate up-to-date in-house training is provided or completed externally; communicate performance, behavioral and current technical knowledge expectations, and monitor compliance. Provide feedback, counseling and disciplinary action as necessary in accordance with established Hospital District policies and procedures.
  6. Manage functional leadership and employee performance; address problems by providing employees with feedback on an ongoing basis, identifying ways to further develop skills and ensure an understanding of performance expectations to perform their jobs effectively.
  7. Collaborate with Nursing and other Vice Presidents to define purpose, goals, and objectives including input into the development of a strategic plan which sets the vision for informationdelivery systems.
  8. Assure that an effective quality improvement/performance improvement program is operational throughout assigned department, coordinated with senior management.
  9. Act as a role model for Studer principles within all assigned operations, working with management and staff to create and improve business service delivery; round on staff on a random basis to assess knowledge and promote overall satisfaction.
  10. Oversee development of annual budgets, monitor fiscal integrity of assigned departments, evaluate and analyze cost-effectiveness of services, procedures or programs being offered.
  11. Promote creativity and innovation for information management, service program development and equipment enhancements in coordination with the leadership team. Develop, lead, support and actively participate in efforts to improve quality and service.
  12. Serve as mentor and role model for other members of JPS Health Network leadership team.
  13. Establish internal and external communication network.
  14. Represent assigned function by attending hospital board meetings other applicable governing committees.
  15. Promote a self-governance environment, encouraging and supporting staff input into critical information processing and delivery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business or information computing.
  • 8+ years of progressive management leadership experience.
  • Experience with successful installation, launch and maintenance of major health care informationsystem(s).
