Job Summary

Under the direction of the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer (SVP/COO) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of assigned departments and designated organizational initiatives. The SVP/COO partners closely with Finance, Nursing, and Medical Leadership to support organizational objectives, operational excellence, strategic growth, financial performance, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities

Operations

  • Provide executive oversight for daily operational activities across assigned departments and service lines.
  • Lead technological and infrastructure improvements, including vendor selection, contract negotiations, and physician/provider engagement.
  • Serve as Administrator-On-Call on a rotating basis.
  • Direct operational performance and enhance the financial viability of assigned areas.
  • Coordinate program implementation with organizational leadership to optimize resource utilization and achieve performance targets.
  • Lead and participate in special projects and system-wide operational initiatives.

Financial Management

  • Accountable for the annual operating budget for assigned areas.
  • Partner with Finance to support operating and capital budget development and management.
  • Participate in the review and negotiation of capital purchases and service agreements.
  • Guide department leaders in budget preparation, forecasting, financial planning, and resource allocation.

Strategic Planning & Growth

  • Develop and execute strategic business plans in collaboration with clinical and operational leaders to support organizational growth and expansion.
  • Partner with senior and clinical leadership in the recruitment and retention of physicians and advanced practice providers.
  • Identify, evaluate, and build consensus around new services, program expansions, and operational improvements that enhance patient experience, quality, and efficiency.
  • Support market growth initiatives and service line development efforts.

Quality & Regulatory Compliance

  • Establish and maintain operational policies and practices aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement through process redesign, quality initiatives, benchmarking, productivity analysis, and technology adoption.
  • Oversee regulatory readiness and compliance activities for assigned departments.
  • Direct accreditation preparation and submission processes.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to implement, monitor, and sustain quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive hospital or healthcare administration experience required; senior executive leadership experience preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field required.
