The Senior Vice President of Enterprise Resilience provides executive leadership for enterprise-wide operational monitoring and management of operational incidents, crises, and business continuity across UnitedHealth Group (UHG). This role is accountable for ensuring the organization can anticipate, respond to, and recover from disruptive events while maintaining operational stability, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder trust. The role partners closely with the COO and senior executives to embed resilience into UHG's operating model and works across people safety/security and cyber response teams to coordinate communications to executive leadership.

For all hires within 30 minutes of an office in Minnesota or Washington, D.C., you'll be required to work a minimum of four days per week in-office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead escalation and coordination for critical incidents across a 24/7 enterprise operating model

  • Establish and operate a clear enterprise crisis management operating model with defined escalation paths, decision rights, and communication protocols

  • Design, mature, and govern crisis doctrine, activation frameworks, playbooks, and after-action review processes

  • Oversee business continuity and broader enterprise resilience practices in coordination with technology and security teams

  • Assess current enterprise resilience and crisis management maturity and lead continuous improvement efforts

  • Build clear, timely executive level communications during incidents and maintain a repeatable executive briefing and daily operations reporting process

  • Coordinate across security, IT, legal, compliance, communications, operations, business leaders, and external partners

  • Develop and lead a federated enterprise resilience capability across geographies and functions

  • Improve incident reporting, metrics, and dashboards to provide actionable leadership visibility

  • Design and lead enterprise exercises and tabletop simulations to test readiness and improve coordination

  • Set direction, performance expectations, and development priorities for leaders and teams

  • Build sustainable leadership capability and succession across the enterprise resilience function

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise resilience, crisis management, operations, or risk related disciplines

  • Expertise in enterprise resilience, including crisis management, business continuity, and disaster recovery

  • Proven track record of leading crisis response and preparedness for large, global organizations

  • Demonstrated experience leading large scale, cross enterprise initiatives in complex, regulated environments

  • Ability to lead during high-pressure incidents with incomplete information

  • Exceptional logic, structure, and communication skills

  • History of successfully communicating clearly with technical teams, executives, and Board-level stakeholders

  • Proven matrix leadership and cross-functional coordination skills

  • Ability to drive process discipline, standardization, and change across a large, global?enterprise

  • Previous experience leading teams of 50+ crisis management and resilience professionals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, MS, or equivalent)

  • Experience leading enterprise resilience or crisis management capabilities within large, diversified, global organizations

  • Relevant professional certifications related to business continuity, disaster recovery, or resilience frameworks

  • Military leadership background

  • Healthcare experience

  • Third-party / supply chain resilience experience

  • Experience with government agencies, regulatory reporting, and international coordination

  • Experience creating executive daily briefing or intelligence-style reporting

  • Lean / process reengineering background

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $225,000 to $375,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
