Role Summary

A leading credit union is seeking an accomplished SVP of Enterprise Risk to provide strategic leadership across internal audit, compliance, security, vendor management, business continuity, and corporate insurance. Reporting to the Chief Operating & Risk Officer, this executive will partner closely with senior leadership and the Board to strengthen risk oversight, support sound decision-making, and foster a culture of risk awareness throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Board & Executive Engagement

• Serve on management and board-level committees, delivering risk insights and updates to the Audit & Enterprise Risk Committee.

• Collaborate with executive leadership to evaluate the risk implications of new business strategies, initiatives, and regulatory changes.

• Prepare and present regular status reports to the CORO and board committees on key risk activities and emerging exposures.

• Represent the organization externally with auditors, examiners, legal counsel, and third-party vendors.

Risk Oversight & Compliance

• Conduct annual enterprise-wide risk assessments to identify, prioritize, and resource risk management efforts.

• Ensure organizational compliance with AML, BSA, OFAC, CIP, and other applicable regulations.

• Oversee internal audits, compliance reviews, information security assessments, and business continuity tests.

• Coordinate responses to audit findings and regulatory examination results, reporting progress to executive management.

• Develop and implement risk monitoring programs to improve enterprise-wide risk management capabilities.

Operations & Resource Management

• Manage vendor risk functions including due diligence, risk assessments, and contract oversight.

• Lead business continuity planning, incident management, and disaster recovery operations.

• Develop and manage the department's annual budget with full fiscal accountability.

• Establish measurable goals and performance standards across audit, compliance, and security functions.

• Build, develop, and retain a high-performing risk management team.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred).

• Minimum 12 years of risk management experience.

• Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience.

Certifications

• Active CPA, CIA, or related risk management certification preferred; or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Skills & Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of IIA professional auditing standards and internal audit regulations.

• In-depth understanding of enterprise risk management practices.

• Strong analytical skills with ability to identify alternatives and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.

• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present findings to executives and board members.

• Ability to work effectively with board members, regulators, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
