### Position Information

  • Title: Campus Ministry Student Minister
  • Division: Vice President for Mission / Rector
  • Department: Campus Ministry
  • Status: Non-Exempt, Part-time

### Position Summary The Student Minister serves as an ambassador of CUH Campus Ministry to other students, prospective students, and other departments, offices, and student organizations. They invite, recruit, and engage students in faith programs, design and post vibrant communications, and bring a student perspective to Campus Ministry event planning.

Essential tasks include reaching out to and inviting students to CM events, designing flyers and social media posts, and collaborating with other university departments and student organizations. They represent Campus Ministry at various events and also assist in routine tasks of the CM department.

The Campus Ministry Student Minister will learn:

  1. Effective methods of communicating and recruiting others to voluntary events.
  2. Event planning skills, from visioning to implementation to evaluation/assessment.
  3. Basic principles and best practices of professional campus ministry from a Catholic Christian perspective.
  4. To build skills and proficiency in digital creation and editing.
  5. Collaborative planning and working as part of a team.

### Reports To

  • Direct Report: The Director of Campus Ministry.
  • Indirect Report: Daily tasks will often be communicated to this position through the Campus Minister or the Administrative Assistant for Campus Ministry.

### Essential Duties and Responsibilities

#### Recruitment, Programming, & Communication (60%)

  • Actively recruit student participants for programs: Invite, advertise, promote, etc.
  • Attend Campus Ministry events; capture digital images of events; lead prayers.
  • Design, update, and maintain CM social media presence and hard-copy flyers.
  • Meet regularly with Campus Ministry professional staff and other Student Ministers to:
  • Receive training and communicate about assigned tasks.
  • Plan and implement Campus Ministry programs.
  • Coordinate efforts and ideas about communication and media presence.
  • Coordinate calendars and upcoming events/needs.
  • Receive formation in basic principles of ministry.
  • Collaborate with other university departments on shared projects (e.g.: Residence Life; Athletics; Office of Student Engagement; Student Organizations).

#### Events Ambassador and Logistics Assistant (30%)

  • Be an outgoing ambassador for CUH Campus Ministry with students, staff, and prospective students in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Greet and assist visitors to the Campus Ministry Office in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Prepare for and be present to represent Campus Ministry at campus events such as New Student Orientation, Opportunities Fair, Silversword Preview Day, Admitted Student Day, and similar events.
  • Maintain supplies and storage areas; assist in preparations and set up for major Campus Ministry events.
  • Assist with office tasks as needed: preparing PowerPoint slides, photocopying, collating, organizing supplies, etc.
  • Be service oriented: actively looking for ways to help staff and visitors.

### Education and Experience

Minimum

  • Must be a currently enrolled Chaminade University student.

Preferred

  • Student should maintain a current GPA of at least 3.0.

### Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to reach out to, engage, and invite strangers in a friendly manner, for the sake of evangelizing and inviting others closer to Christ.
  • Ability and willingness to work on campus evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Eagerness and comfort with engaging and inviting others.
  • Proficiency with computer, social media, creating and editing digital photos, graphics, and videos.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute duties and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on thoroughness and quality.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.

### Preferred Knowledge, Skill & Abilities

  • Knowledge of and experience with planning and coordinating ministers for Catholic liturgies.
  • Experience/familiarity with CUH Campus Ministry mission and events.

### Physical Requirements Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines.

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Walk the campus with ease.
  • Have excellent motor skills.
  • Must have finger dexterity.
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.

### Other Requirements

  • This is a Part-time Non-Exempt Student Worker position. Depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required.
  • Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule.
  • Performs such similar, comparable, or related duties as may be assigned or required.
  • Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University.
  • Reports unsafe acts/conditions and injuries in a timely and proper manner.
