2 years High School Education
BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers will certify upon hiring)
1 of the following is PREFERRED 1 yr Swim Coach experience or certification OR WSI (American Red Cross Water Safety; Instructor) - or will get within 6-months of hire
Knowledge and demonstration of basic rescue techniques Excellent swimming skills including ability to swim 500 meters using the five basic strokes
Job Overview:
Main responsibility is to instruct individual & group participants in basic water skills, stroke development and personal rescue and water safety.
Job Responsibilities:
Actively motivates and assists members with their swimming proficiency and overall fitness goals. Preparing lesson plans, session goals, and skill certificates for each student and each class;
Cmmunicate positively and proactively with a variety of different user groups.
Informs management of safety hazards as they may arise. Communicates with management staff regarding problems and concerns of members and participates in record-keeping of the department.
Creates a positive work environment, regularly assists coworkers, gives positive feedback when appropriate, and acts as a mentor to new employees/students. Perform other duties assigned
Exhibits flexibility with work schedule. Participating in mandatory staff safety trainings and meetings;
Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm.
Ability to demonstrate skills as required for class content and use teaching aids such as kickboards, diving rings, lifejackets, etc.
