Examples of Duties • Prepares lesson plans and provides swimming instruction to students according to the curriculum for the various courses, levels, and ages. • Monitors and maintains records of student progress. • Ensures all equipment is in proper working order. • Uses customer service skills when communicating with students, parents, and coworkers. • Arrives fifteen minutes before class and cleans equipment after class. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Must be a minimum of fifteen (15) years of age. Instructors must take and pass the StarFish Swim School Instructor Course.
Preferred Qualifications: First Aid and CPR certification.
Supplemental Information This is a safety sensitive position and subject to random drug testing. During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Drivers License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing. Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
Chatham County Benefits Plan Eligibility for benefits begins on your date of hire. Full-time employees working a regular schedule of 30 or more hours per week are eligible for County benefits. Part-time, seasonal, and temporary employees are not eligible to participate in the County benefit plan. However, regular part-time employees accrue prorated vacation and sick leave based on their schedule.
Health Employees have a choice between a high or low option point-of-service health plan for themselves, their spouse, and eligible dependent children.
Vision The vision plan offers a comprehensive eye exam and options for frames, lenses, and contact lenses.
Dental Employees may choose either the high or low dental plan option with two cleanings per year and periodic x-rays at no cost.

Retirement Chatham County provides a Defined Benefit Pension Plan with a five-year vesting period.
