What You'll Do
The Assistant Swimming Pool Manager supports the Pool Manager in overseeing daily pool operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and positive experience for patrons and staff. Responsibilities include opening and closing the facility, monitoring and balancing pool chemicals, supervising lifeguard staff, and assisting with or leading staff meetings as needed. This role also involves addressing patron questions or concerns, resolving issues calmly and professionally, supporting staff scheduling and coverage, and stepping in during busy periods or emergencies to maintain safety and service standards.
What We're Looking For
Ideal candidates are reliable, proactive, and able to remain calm under pressure while taking initiative when needed. Prior lifeguarding or aquatics experience is preferred, along with experience supervising peers or working in a customer service environment. Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills are essential. This position is well-suited for individuals interested in building leadership and aquatics management experience, particularly those considering future careers in recreation, public service, or supervisory roles
Incumbents are responsible for monitoring participants and supervising personnel in the absence of a Swimming Pool Manager, at an aquatic facility.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives general supervision for higher level Aquatic and/or Recreation Management.
Typical Class Essential Duties
In the absence of the Swimming Pool Manager, serves as the on-site position of authority for the operation of an aquatic facility (such as a swimming pool, wading pool or water slide), including assisting in the selection of assigned staff, staff training; creating staff schedules; assigning work; and assisting with maintaining a healthy and safe work environment.
Provides general customer service and communicates with the public regarding fees, policies, rules, and general information about the aquatic facility or program.
In the absence of the Swimming Pool Manager, performs routine maintenance on Aquatic Facilities including backwashing, cleaning out strainer baskets, and vacuuming the pool floor. Notifies the Recreation Supervisor regarding mechanical system issues at an assigned aquatics facility.
Patrols pool areas to observe activities of individuals to ensure participant safety and compliance with facility rules.
Receives and verifies payments, processes, and maintains related records to reconcile accounts receivable tasks.
Assists the Swimming Pool Manager with administrative tasks associated with the operation of an aquatic facility.
Performs rescues, or provides necessary assistance for endangered or tired swimmers.
Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Incumbent is be subject to perform duties either indoors or outdoors, which may include extreme climate/weather conditions (warm humid indoors/unpredictable weather outdoors) and ongoing exposure to sun and pool chemicals and smells such as chlorine. The nature of duties involves constant mental and visual attention and standing for long periods of time. Incumbents must possess the physical stamina to respond effectively to emergency situations by utilizing strong swimming skills. In a public pool environment there will be exposure to noisy, distracting and stressful situations including a fast-paced customer service environment.

o Extended to 12:00am on non-school nights
o Cannot drive any vehicle (including personal) for work purposes - i.e., errands or changing work locations
o May operate ATVs, golf carts, riding mowers, etc. on City grounds ONLY (may not go on public roadways)
o Must meet WARM driving criteria in order to operate ATVs, golf carts, riding mowers, etc. on City grounds
17 Years of Age
o Extended to 12:00am on non-school nights
o Driving is limited to daylight hours
o Cannot have more than three (3) passengers
o Cannot drive more than 33% of the scheduled workday or 20% of scheduled workweek
o Cannot operate a vehicle over 6,000 pounds
o Cannot tow vehicles OR trailers
o Must have a valid Wyoming driver's license
o Cannot have ANY prior moving violations
