A day in the life
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you’ll take ownership of setting up and producing precision components in our machining department. Your day moves from machine setup and offsets to inspection and documentation, all within an ISO 13485 quality system.
Set up and run Citizen and Tsugami Swiss lathes, Index multi-spindle lathes, Robo Drills, mill-turn, and horizontal/vertical mills (3-4-5 axis).
Make efficient offsets and perform tool changes to keep production flowing with minimal support.
Launch both legacy parts and new production orders and maintain steady machine operation.
Inspect parts visually and dimensionally using microscopes, micrometers, calipers, pin and thread gauges, comparators, Micro-Hite, CMM, and vision systems.
Complete, maintain, and compile ISO 13485 quality documentation and records.
Execute scheduled and routine preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
Troubleshoot complex machine or process issues and lead problem-solving activities.
Control materials: identification, traceability, and segregation of conforming and nonconforming product.
Support Good Documentation Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices and drive continuous improvement.
Use ERP and QMS systems to capture inspection data and maintain traceability.
Work safely and comply with PPE and occupational safety/health requirements.
Follow the TOMZ Quality Management System and perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring
Experience in Class I, II, and/or III medical device manufacturing within a regulated environment; comfortable using calibrated equipment and handling hazardous materials.
Background in regulated manufacturing; aerospace, defense, or automotive experience is a plus.
Working knowledge of GMP and ISO standards.
Self-starter who can work independently and in teams; able to collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and QA to achieve results with guidance.
Hands-on understanding of mechanical equipment operation, care, and inspection.
Ability to use hand tools for preventive maintenance, repairs, and tool changes.
Proficient at reading blueprints, specifications, and procedures; solid grasp of GD&T.
Detail orientation with a track record of accuracy, organization, and timely completion of work, including identifying nonconformances.
Education & experience
High school diploma, GED, or directly transferrable work experience (Manufacturing or Engineering preferred).
Technical school certification preferred.
2–5 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Physical requirements
Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs. Team lift or mechanical assist required over 50 lbs.
Repetitive hand/arm movements while lifting up to 20 lbs; frequent gripping, twisting, and placing of components, including overhead.
20/20 vision (assisted or unassisted) for sorting raw and nonconforming materials; good dexterity for small-to-medium products.
Exposure to oil, grease, occupational noise, cleaning solvents, dust, metal particles, sparks, coolant, and sharp edges; PPE such as safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, and cut- or chemical-resistant gloves, and engineering controls may be required.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Shifts & pay
Weekend Shift: 20% differential, 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM Fri–Sun
2nd Shift: 15% differential, 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM
1st Shift: No differential
Pay range: $23.50 – $30.50
