    Job Description

    Step into a Second-Shift Story

Picture the start of your shift: you walk up to a Citizen L20 or L32 with Mitsubishi controls. You verify the setup, confirm bar stock, dial in tool offsets, and bring the machine up to spec. Throughout the run, you measure parts with micrometers and calipers, document results, and keep an open line with the team so any hiccup gets routed to the right person fast. You’re not just running parts—you’re shaping best practices that raise quality and throughput for everyone.

    What You’ll Handle

    • Operate Citizen Swiss machines (L32, L20 with Mitsubishi controls) independently.
    • Apply solid machining fundamentals and blueprint interpretation.
    • Use inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gage, no-go gauges) to verify quality.
    • Set tool wear and geometry: make tool offsets; set longitudinal and diameter values.
    • Perform tool changes, including understanding insert nomenclature.
    • Change over the bar feeder efficiently.
    • Edit programs and perform full setups when needed (a strong plus).
    • Follow documentation and recordkeeping practices consistently.
    • Communicate production status openly and route malfunctions to the right contact quickly.

    What You Bring

    • 5+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience on Swiss-type equipment.
    • 2+ years setting up CNC machines.
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints; strong problem-solving, reading, and math skills consistent with high school completion (12th grade).
    • Technical college training in machining is highly desirable.
    • Working knowledge of GD&T.
    • Experience with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and no-go gauges.

    Physical Realities of the Role

    • Excellent hand–eye coordination.
    • Mobility to bend and lift while loading/unloading parts; move between stations; alternate sitting and standing.
    • Lift 25–35 lbs repeatedly during the shift, and on occasion lift up to 75 lbs.
    • Comfort with repetitive work beyond 8 hours per day and some weekends as required.
    • Read fine print, distinguish colors, and reach controls located about five feet above the floor.
    • Wear required PPE, including safety glasses and steel-toe boots.

    Schedule & Premium

2nd shift runs four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, with overtime opportunities on Friday or Saturday. A 10% premium is added to the hourly rate.

    How You’ll Make an Impact

Your commitment to communication, precision inspection, and smart setups helps establish best practices that improve quality and output across the cell. If you thrive on turning complex prints into consistent parts, this role is for you.
