Job Description:

Reports To: Production Manager

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on CNC Lead to provide leadership, technical expertise, and day-to-day oversight of CNC machining operations within our production team.

Position Summary

The CNC Lead will oversee CNC machinists and operators, ensuring the safe, efficient, and precise production of aerospace components that meet strict quality standards. This position is responsible for coordinating workflow, troubleshooting technical issues, mentoring team members, and collaborating with engineering and quality departments to achieve production goals. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in CNC programming and operations, proven leadership skills, and the ability to drive performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Provide daily leadership and direction to CNC machinists and operators.
• Train, mentor, and coach employees on setup, operation, and best practices.
• Assign work schedules and prioritize tasks to meet production deadlines.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

CNC Operations

• Oversee the setup and operation of CNC machines to produce high-quality aerospace components.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
• Ensure that parts are produced to tight tolerances and meet customer specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve machining, programming, or tooling issues quickly and effectively.

Quality & Compliance

• Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure adherence to AS9100 and customer standards.
• Conduct in-process inspections and verify final product accuracy.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Production & Process Improvement

• Monitor workflow, equipment utilization, and operator performance.
• Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Assist in planning machine maintenance and tool management.
• Provide feedback to Engineering and Production Management regarding manufacturability and design improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in Machining or Manufacturing Technology preferred.
• 5+ years of CNC machining experience with at least 2+ years in a leadership or lead role.
• Strong knowledge of CNC programming (G-code), setups, tooling, and machining processes.
• Prior aerospace or precision manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards and aerospace requirements.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools and blueprint reading.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
