Swiss Machine Programmer


Position Purpose:
The primary role of Swiss Machining Programmer is to receive jobs that need to be programmed from the Lead Swiss Machine Programmer then build a program with selected tooling that will produce production parts that are acceptable to the customer.


Responsibilities/Duties/Functions:
  • Communicate clearly and work with Set Up personnel to establish a highly efficient setup and stable production.
  • Identify special tooling that will be needed to produce an acceptable part for the customer.
  • Read Blueprints
  • Understand Modeling and Programming software.
  • Data entry within setup and process sheets
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Effectively work to schedule keeping ahead of production so that machines don’t go down due to lack of a program.
  • To complete paperwork in a neat and legible manner
  • To identify special program and machine tooling / positional needs


Qualifications:
  • Must have experience with Star Swiss
  • Ability to communicate and work with Set Up personnel and co-workers
  • Ability to use and understand measurement gauges (Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators, and Vision systems etc.)
  • Ability to effectively use programming and modeling software
  • Understands the Swiss turning process and troubleshooting techniques
  • Has intermediate math skills
  • Minimum of three years’ Swiss programming experience


Special Position Requirements:
  • Must be capable of proving out programs on the machine.
  • Must be capable of program optimization and cycle time reduction
  • Must be able to understand speeds and feeds required for multiple machined materials


Core Competencies:
  • Understanding of intermediate math
  • Ability to identify several different machining methods
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Swiss machine set up
  • Extensive knowledge of machining speeds and feeds
  • Optimization and efficiency-minded
