  • Perform light setups, including preparing tools, fixtures, and materials for production runs.
  • Load CNC programs, make edits in Gibbscam software on Fanuc controls, and verify program accuracy before and during production.
  • Perform tool changes and adjustments as needed to maintain part quality and machine performance.
  • Run high-volume production jobs, typically ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 parts per order.
  • Interpret and work from various machining prints and engineering drawings to produce parts to specification.
  • Collaborate with engineering, as well as internal and external designers, to improve final products and tooling designs.
  • Understand engineering objectives and design intent and provide constructive feedback on manufacturability and process improvements.
  • Maintain quality standards by performing in-process inspections of parts using appropriate measuring tools.
  • Monitor machining processes and make necessary adjustments to ensure consistent quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Document and communicate any issues, deviations, or improvement ideas related to processes, tooling, or equipment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and contribute to a safe and organized work environment on the shop floor.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience operating Swiss-style CNC machines, preferably Citizen or Star models.
  • Practical knowledge of Swiss machining, including lathe and Swiss operation processes.
  • Ability to make program edits using Gibbscam software on Fanuc controls.
  • Proficiency with CNC machining concepts, including tool offsets, feeds, speeds, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Strong mathematics skills with a focus on shop math for dimensions, tolerances, and machining calculations.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges for in-process inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret machining prints and engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of numerical control and CNC programming basics.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Education from a trade school or technical program in machining, CNC, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a high-volume production setting with runs of 1,500 to 2,000 parts.
  • Familiarity with collaborating with engineering and design teams to improve products and tooling.
  • Comfort working with both internal and external designers on manufacturability and process improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues quickly.
  • Good communication skills to provide clear feedback on design intent, process changes, and quality concerns.
