Belden Universal is hiring a seasoned Swiss-type CNC professional to set up and run high-precision turning operations at our Hillside, IL facility (about 12 miles west of downtown Chicago). You’ll contribute directly to the mechanical power transmission industry by producing components that meet exacting standards. Experience on any Swiss platform is welcome—Star familiarity is a plus, not a must.
You begin by reviewing work orders and blueprints, translating GD&T into a clear machining plan—materials, tooling, surfaces, and parameters. You’ll install and fine-tune tools, load bar stock into the feeder, and complete first-article checks to international standards. Throughout the run, you’ll hold tight tolerances while monitoring turning, facing, grooving, drilling, knurling, and thread chasing. You’ll tune offsets, make basic G-code edits, and troubleshoot as needed. Preventive maintenance, safety protocols, and meticulous production/quality logs keep the cell running smoothly and reliably.
Founded in the Chicago area in 1939, Belden Universal has evolved from a local machine shop to a global manufacturer of precision universal joints and drive shaft assemblies. We serve diverse industries with both standard and custom solutions. Our design engineers and technical sales team prioritize customer needs, consistently exceeding expectations. With innovative development capabilities and state-of-the-art equipment, we lead in mechanical power transmission.
