JOB SUMMARY

ABOUT OUR STUDENT WORKFORCE PROGRAM

Mt. San Jacinto Community College District accepts applications for our Student Workforce Program (SWP) for a variety of temporary, part-time, and entry-level jobs.

The assignment is offered through our Student Workforce Program. This is a great way to learn about working for the District while working on a temporary, at-will basis. During their assignment, many SWP employees find the District is a great place to work and seek permanent, full-time employment through our regular competitive selection process.

SWP CLASSIFICATIONS

Student employment is classified by two categories:

  • Non-Federal (District): student employment consists of a student being hired in a specific department, utilizing that departments district funding.
  • Federal Work Study (FWS): student employment is a federal student financial aid program authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act. Students must establish financial need according to Federal guidelines. The institution receives money from the Department of Education to fund the Federal Work Study program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements and duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to this class.

  • MSJC mascot during events, activities and workshops.
  • Greet students, staff, and visitors, and provide accurate information regarding student life programs and events.
  • Set up and take down event materials (tables, signage, audio/visual equipment, supplies).
  • Uphold confidentiality and follow campus policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by Student Life staff.
  • May need to work on Saturday.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability and willingness to participate in Student Life & Development events
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and individually
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs (for example, Microsoft Windows, Office, Outlook, Google Drive)
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, including those from a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

STANDARD:

  • SWP employees must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • At the time of hire, if you are under 18 years of age, you must present your high school diploma or GED (must be an original or certified copy of the document)

  • Be a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. National or Permanent U.S. Resident

  • Maintain at least half-time enrollment status (*6 units) for each semester employed

  • *3 semester units during summer session

  • A minimum 2.0 GPA

  • Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, address and photograph*

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Interest in student leadership, student services, or event planning.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability being:

  • Willing to learn

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Number of Positions Available: 3

Award Year: 2026/2027

SWP Classification: Federal Work Study

The initial salary placement is $16.90 per hour. The positions are part-time. Student workers may work up to 20 hours per week each semester and up to 28 hours per week during winter break, spring break, and summer.

Applications which meet the required minimum qualifications are kept on file for 4-months from the date the District verifies the applicants qualifications. The department Administrator, Dean or their designee will contact those applicants they are interested in interviewing.

LOCATION AND SCHEDULE

These positions serve the San Jacinto campus. The current work schedule is flexible, and varies Monday through Friday, and possibly on Saturday as determined by the department needs.
