The SYEP Borough Coordinator plays a key leadership role in delivering the Police Athletic League's (PAL) Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of one of PAL's SYEP contract, from staff supervision and program management to compliance andcommunity partnerships. The Coordinator will work closely with participants, worksites, and partner organizations to create meaningful employment experiences that promote career readiness, personal growth, and community engagement. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role for a dynamic leader who is passionate about youth development and committed to operational excellence.

  • Interview, onboard, and supervise all staff required to fulfill contract requirements.
  • Conduct workshops and trainings; attend all program-related meetings.
  • Collaborate with departmental staff and contribute to overall team operations and initiatives.
  • Design and deliver engaging workshops focused on work readiness, career exploration, and academic support, often utilizing DYCD curriculum.
  • Secure PAL facilities for enrollments, trainings, and educational workshops.
  • Recruit and enroll youth through targeted strategies such as job fairs, on-site employer visits, and community outreach.
  • Application/participant recruitment for SYEP & WLG
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with worksites partners.
  • Oversee the SYEP lottery process, manage participant enrollments, and maintain accurate records in the SYEP database.
  • Ensure all participant folders are complete and fully prepared for DYCD audits.
  • Track participant progress and ensure program compliance with DYCD guidelines.
  • Utilize DYCD systems (e.g., YEPS, DYCD Connect) for data entry and tracking program outcomes.
  • Create and submit periodic reports to track overall program progress.
  • Serve as point of contact for all internal and external SYEP-related inquiries.
  • Act as a liaison between the Department of Youth Employment and PAL Centers.
  • Collaborate with program staff, supervisors, community partners, and employers to ensure a positive SYEP experience for all participants.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as education, social work, or non-profit management (required).
  • 1-2 years of experience with a Summer Youth Employment Program or youth workforce development (preferred).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to oversee multiple aspects of the program.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of youth and community stakeholders.
  • Proven decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of diverse youth populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive).
  • Experience using DYCD systems such as YEPS and DYCD Connect for data management and reporting (preferred).
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings as needed.
  • Flexibility to assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Compensation: $52,000 Salary/year

Location: Youth Employment

Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00AM - 6:00PM
