Export Control : This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.

Join the Leo Devices & Systems team as a Linux Client Fleet Manager. This is a unique opportunity to shape how Linux client systems are managed within Leo. You'll own the strategy and operations that keep our Linux endpoints secure, compliant, and optimized for productivity across engineering, manufacturing, and science teams. Working alongside a skilled, mission-driven team, your efforts will directly support Leo"s goal of connecting unserved and underserved communities around the world through innovative satellite technology.

Key job responsibilities

  • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain controls to ensure systems meet rigorous internal and external security requirements (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, ITAR compliance). Drive initiatives to keep the fleet within defined patches and configuration baselines.
  • Tooling & Automation: Develop and improve automation for imaging, software distribution, monitoring, and policy enforcement. Utilize tools like MaaS, Ansible, Puppet, or Tanium for scalable fleet operations.
  • Printer Management for Manufacturing: Launch and maintain printers that support SAP-driven manufacturing processes, ensuring seamless integration with Linux endpoints on the manufacturing floor.
  • Operational Excellence: Define metrics and dashboards to monitor fleet health, compliance, and performance. Drive initiatives to reduce mean time to repair (MTTR) and increase fleet stability.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with Security, Networking, Manufacturing, and Application teams to support specialized workloads and deploy solutions tailored to Kuiper's unique environments.
  • Process Leadership: Build and document processes for hardware lifecycle management, software approvals, printer onboarding, and user support related to Linux systems.

A day in the life

In this role, you will develop automation for Linux provisioning, configuration, and patching. You'll partner with security, networking, and manufacturing teams to enforce NIST and ITAR compliance, ensuring seamless integration in production environments. Daily work includes managing endpoint security tools, supporting printers on the manufacturing floor, troubleshooting fleet issues, and monitoring compliance dashboards. You'll document processes, drive root cause analysis, and implement long-term improvements. This hands-on role requires strong technical skills, proactive problem-solving, and a focus on secure and efficient operations.

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
