The J-Tech II contract is one of Arcata's longest standing partnerships. J-Tech II provides engineering and technical services to support research, development, test and evaluation, training missions, and related support activities for the 412th Test Wing Edwards, Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), Utah Test and Training Range, and China Lake Ranges. We provide expert technical knowledge of flight and ground test and training systems, equipment and facilities to support pre-mission, mission and post-mission requirements in areas including Telemetry Systems, Telecommunication Systems, Signal Collect/Monitoring Analysis, Threat Systems, Computer Systems, Instrumentation Systems, Mission Control/Coordination, Data Analysis/Reports, Time-Space Position Information (TSPI)/Scoring Systems, Test/Training Management, and Sustainment Engineering.Summary:The System Administrator II (SA) performs operational support and on-going maintenance of systems required to meet contract objectives. The SA will coordinate with JT4 departments, the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) and external units to provision, test, maintain, resolve computer system issues and works closely with Cyber Security to maintain a high level of systems integrity and security.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:For assigned systems, supports all systems-related issuesMonitors systems for healthEstablishes reports and trends system performanceStrong ability to provide hands-on server supportPartners with other IT team members with strong collaborative capabilities to build a robust, secure, and scalable infrastructureAbility to author and maintain IT procedural documentationProvides regular systems monitoring and standardized reporting to identify system hardware and/or software and operating system problems, this includes identifying problems and determining the most efficient way to resolve themMaintains documentation of all hardware and software implementation, maintenance, and upgrades, this includes equipment and software inventories, and maintenance documentationCollaborates with other Systems Admins, Cyber Security and the business unitsApply Cyber Security standards, directives, guidance and policies to an architectural framework as directedFollows policies and procedures in line with industry best practicesPossesses excellent Customer Service skillsPerform diagnostics of problems, troubleshoot and develop solutions for customer issuesUnderstanding and experience with storage technologiesEvaluates existing technologies and provides recommendations for enhancementsMust work efficiently both independently and within a teamCompetencies, Skills and Abilities:Heightened sense of urgency and organizational skillsIntermediate computer networking and troubleshootingIntermediate hardware and software troubleshootingIntermediate knowledge with Windows Server PlatformsIntermediate knowledge with Windows Desktop Platforms and/orIntermediate knowledge with UNIX Platforms (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu)Intermediate knowledge with AD, DHCP, DNS, File and Print ServersAbility to provide support outside of normal business hoursAbility to make and test networking cablesCritical thinking and problem solvingExcellent written and verbal communicationsAbility to independently understand, troubleshoot, and resolve typical/basic IT related issues Ability to work in a fast paced, schedule-driven and customer-oriented environmentQualifications:MandatoryAssociates or higher degree in Computer/Information Technology or equivalent academic/technical training5 years or more progressive relevant experienceKnowledge of general network administration, troubleshooting, and repairPossess and maintain a valid, state issued driver's licenseMUST HAVE or have ability to acquire within 90 days and maintain CompTIA Security+ CEMUST HAVE or have the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance with possible SCIWork Environment, Physical and Mental DemandsTypical office environment with no unusual hazards, prolonged sitting while using the computer and the telephone, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Project demands may require travel to NTTR locations by Government vehicle. Possible exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions for prolonged periods, travel over rough roads, and work on uneven surfaces in an outdoor environment. The noise level on the NTTR varies from quiet to moderately noisy. Must comply with all safety and security requirements and procedures.
