System Administrator Master

Annexa is currently working with D.C. Government's Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection and we are seeking a System Administrator Master. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the organization’s server infrastructure, network systems, and core IT services. This role focuses heavily on Windows Server administration, system performance, security, and reliability. The administrator ensures that all systems operate efficiently, securely, and in alignment with organizational needs and industry best practices. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and domain services.
  • Perform server patching, updates, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor server performance, availability, and capacity planning.
  • Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, or Azure Virtual Machines).
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and domain services.
  • Perform server patching, updates, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor server performance, availability, and capacity planning.
  • Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, or Azure Virtual Machines). 
  • Maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
  • Monitor network performance, bandwidth usage, and connectivity issues.
  • Implement and maintain network security controls, including VLANs, VPNs, and access policies.
  • Support IP addressing, routing, and network segmentation.
  • Perform daily system checks, backups, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues across servers and endpoints.
  • Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and system architecture.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for escalated issues.

  • Manage cloud identity, access, and security configurations.
  • Assist with cloud migrations, modernization projects, and automation initiatives.
  • Work closely with IT leadership, application teams, and vendors to support infrastructure needs.
  • Participate in planning and implementing new technologies and system upgrades.
  • Provide recommendations for improving system reliability, performance, and security.
 

Required Skills: 
  • 16+ years of experience installing and configuring system hardware/software in an enterprise environment. 
  • 16+ years of experience performing daily backups. 
  • 16+ years of experience troubleshooting server and other hardware issues. 
  • 16+ years of experience monitoring networks to ensure security and availability. 
  • 16+ years of experience installing operating systems (OS) patches and upgrades. 
  • Strong experience with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, and Group Policy. 
  • Proficiency with DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, and firewall technologies. 
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper V). 
  • Familiarity with backup solutions, disaster recovery, and monitoring tools. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. 
  • Experience with Azure, Microsoft 365, or hybrid cloud environments. 
  • Experience with enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS). 
  • Relevant certifications such as: 0 MCSA / MCSE, o CompTIA Network+ / Security+, VMware VCP, Azure Administrator (AZ 104). 


Desired Skills: 
  • Experience with Azure, Microsoft 365, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Experience with enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS).
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • MCSA / MCSE
    • CompTIA Network+ / Security+CompTIA Network+ / Security+
    • VMware VCP
