Description

SAIC Inc. has an immediate opportunity for a System Administrator - Mid position requiring a Position of Public Trust clearance located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Must have a minimum of 6 years of experience administrating servers and systems, cloud infrastructure, file and print environments, specializing in Windows operating systems. Must possess a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or equivalent.

The successful candidate is a team player, able to effectively manage their time, willing to learn new technologies, and work with limited supervision. In addition, the qualified candidate will work with other Information Technology team members to ensure continuous network operations.

This is a contractor position supporting a federal government contract, onsite in Cambridge MA

Core responsibilities and duties:
  • System Maintenance and Administration: Perform day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for infrastructure servers. Manage, monitor, and maintain the stability and performance of Windows Active Directory infrastructure.
  • Data Center Operations: Provide daily operational support for a datacenter, including monitoring the room environment for temperature anomalies, checking Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS), coordinating equipment delivery, and maintaining regular asset inventories.
  • Security and Data Integrity: Maintain current security patch and service pack levels.
  • Cloud Operations: Perform roles related to managing AWS, Azure, and other cloud vendors.
  • Operational Oversight: Track delegated issues that require interaction with other areas of the Enterprise to update/resolve.
  • Documentation and Procedures: Formalize procedures by writing updated cohesive documents for Team Support, LAN and technical application support.
  • Policy Management: Comply with data retention policies and update contingency backup plans (e.g., Commvault) for both functional and assessment processes.


Qualifications

Requirements:
  • MUST HAVE: A minimum of 6 years of experience administrating some combination of Windows/Linux servers (On-Prem or Cloud), Active Directory, File/Print management, VMware and Cloud Application instances.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred and two (2) years or more of related experience; can be substituted with six (6) years experience.
  • Certifications: Relevant professional certifications are valued but are not mandatory.
  • Must be able to complete "eApp National Background Investigation Services (NBIS)" form.


Preferred skills and qualifications:
  • Cross-Platform Proficiency: A diligent generalist with exposure to managing some parts or combinations of Windows Server, VMware and Linux products.
  • Cloud Experience: Demonstrated acquaintance working within AWS and Azure cloud environments.
  • Analytical Multi-Tasking: Capable of stabilizing high-priority workflows while ensuring that lower-priority tasks do not fall through the cracks.
  • Technical Writing: Grasping concepts related to cloud and infrastructure projects. Translate that information into comprehensive documentation.
  • Technical Expertise: Technical knowledge of a wide range of computer systems, software, hardware, and networking communications. Display some level of hands-on experience managing Windows Server and/or Linux Operating Systems.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of analyzing and resolving moderately complex computer and network problems.
  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven track record of customer service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate technical guidance and take instructions with a wide range of team members.
  • Tool Proficiency: Knowledge of enterprise tools such as Microsoft BitLocker, Backup Products (Netbackup, Commvault), Monitoring tools (Whatsapp, SCOM), Cloud Management Consoles (AWS/Azure) and remote desktop technologies (VPN, RDP)


Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
