About the Role:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Systems Administrator to be part of our Security team and based out of our Mount Laurel, NJ location.
 
The Systems Administrator will have experience in managing, maintaining, and securing Mount Laurel’s critical virtual infrastructure (Linux/Windows/ESXi) and physical Windows/Linux environments. The ideal candidate has a deep technical background in Windows OS, Linux OS, and virtualization/physical best practices, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a proven ability to maintain highly available, secure, and performant systems.
 
Clearance & Location Requirements:
  • All applicants must currently possess an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 5 days in office, based out of our Mount Laurel, New Jersey location.


What You Will Do:


  • Window System Administration: Install, configure, secure, and maintain windows operating systems (Windows 11) in both virtual and physical environments.
  • Server Administration: Install, configure, secure, and maintain server operating system (Server 2022 and 2025) in both virtual and physical environments.
  • Linux System Administration: Install, configure, secure, and maintain Linux operating systems (Red Hat) in both virtual and physical environments.
  • System & Software Maintenance: Perform monthly maintenance by applying Operating system and software patches to remediate open vulnerabilities on the information system.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, security, and performance; implement and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. Demonstrate the ability to manage, execute, and maintain system compliance through STIG implementation, SCAP scanning, and ACAS/Nessus vulnerability management.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide Tier 2/3 support to quickly diagnose and resolve complex system and virtual/physical system performance issues, system configuration problems, and outages.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerCLI, Ansible Playbook) to streamline routine administrative tasks, deployments, and reporting.
  • VMware Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.

Who You Are:


Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field or equivalent full-time professional experience
  • 3+ years of professional windows systems administration experience, preferably in a security position
  • Security+ CE certification, or equivalent level I or II IAT/IAM certification (DoD Directives 8140/8570)
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, as needed
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V)
  • Experience configuring systems and performing associated Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) tasks, including daily, monthly and quarterly maintenance to all systems
  • Proficiency with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Ability to understand and interact with complex DoD compliance tools
What Makes You Stand Out:
  • Linux system administration experience
  • Experience with, or knowledge of managing & maintaining system compliance through STIG implementation, SCAP scanning, and ACAS/Nessus vulnerability management (Windows/Linux/ESXi)
  • Understanding of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewalls
  • Experience with PowerShell or Bash scripting for automation
  • Familiarity with software deployment tools (e.g., PDQ Deploy)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

Pay Range*: $90,000 - $150,000 or $114,000 - $184,000
