Job Title: Electromagnetic Pump Systems Design Engineer

Location: Bellevue, WA | Remote

Pay Rate: $69.00 - $115.00/hr

Employment Type: Contract | Full-Time | 12 Months

Role & Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of submersible electromagnetic pump design - from thermohydraulic and magnetohydrodynamic modeling through fabrication, prototype lab testing, and rapid iteration within an advanced nuclear reactor program.
  • Integrate the EM Pump into the processing system steady-state and transient model in Aspen HYSYS Plus; execute thermal, seismic, structural, pipe stress, and heat transfer analyses using COMSOL Multiphysics and MATLAB.
  • Generate and manage complete design packages including calculations, drawings, Engineering Design Specifications, and Interface Control Documents; lead technical reviews with cross-discipline teams and external suppliers.
  • Coordinate supplier deliverables, define and execute system qualification testing programs, and support licensing activities including Safety Analysis Reports; up to 30% travel required.

Essential Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline; 10+ years of direct experience with electromagnetic pumps in liquid metal environments, including thermodynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, fluids, heat transfer, and system controls.
  • Expert proficiency in COMSOL Multiphysics and MATLAB; hands-on experience with Aspen HYSYS Plus, CFD/FEA on complex components, P&ID reading, and piping systems; thorough knowledge of ASME BPVC, B31.3, API, and quality standards such as NQA-1, ISO 9001, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated supplier coordination experience for safety-related equipment fabrication; prior work with nuclear reactors, high-temperature multi-discipline systems, or equivalent high-performance process equipment strongly preferred.
