About the Opportunity: Sterling Engineering’s client, a leader in advanced nuclear technology and innovative energy solutions, is looking for a Senior Configuration Management (CM) Specialist to join their organization. This is a stable, forward-thinking company operating in a highly regulated industry, currently transitioning to model- and data-centric approaches to support long-term growth and infrastructure safety.
Job Duties:
Lead and manage the strategy, processes, and tools necessary to maintain the configuration of complex technical products, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Continuously analyze and implement product-based configuration management initiatives, including Bills of Materials (BOM) and dataset traceability, to enhance process maturity.
Organize and balance organizational change management plans to facilitate the transition from current processes to advanced model-centric approaches.
Identify and resolve design risks and complexities by developing tailored CM processes and efficient change control evaluation criteria.
Minimize inconsistencies in product lifecycles by working with software development teams to implement process-driven improvements in the Aras Innovator PLM platform.
Motivate and train stakeholders across the company, providing the subject matter expertise needed to expand or apply new CM processes effectively.
Ensure consistent adherence to rigorous industry standards and regulations, including NQA-1, ASME, ISO 9001, and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary technical and non-technical teams to maintain high-quality documentation and support product lifecycle improvements.
Drive and implement key performance indicator (KPI) definitions to elevate performance and track the maturity of configuration management infrastructure.
Prepare regular reports and recommendations for senior management regarding enhancements to change control and overall process implementation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related technical/process field.
Minimum of 10 years of directly related, full-time professional Configuration Management experience, specifically within support of complex, multi-disciplinary design projects.
Proven ability to manage and implement CM processes, procedures, and infrastructure to full maturity in a highly regulated environment.
Strong understanding of CM standards (CM2, EIA-649), product structures, and proficiency with PLM tools (Aras Innovator preferred).
Excellent problem-solving, organizational change management, and technical writing skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead by example, working with minimal direction to manage conflicting priorities in a rapidly evolving, safety-conscious culture.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop interpersonal networks and ensure compliance with DOE 10 CFR Part 810 requirements.
