About the Opportunity

We're looking for a Systems Integration Engineer to build and maintain the automations that move data between the University's core systems. Much of the work involves connecting cloud services to one another and to our on-premises environment, replacing manual processes with reliable, monitored, and documented automation.

This role is with our dedicated team at Rivier University, a Catholic University in Nashua, New Hampshire. Ten of us support Rivier University, and only Rivier University. There's no rotating client list and no ticket quota spread across a dozen accounts. You'll learn one environment deeply, work with the same people every day, and see your projects through to completion.

Where you will make an impact

• Build and maintain integrations between cloud and on-premises systems using REST APIs and scripting
• Automate account lifecycle and identity processes across Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365
• Write and support scheduled PowerShell automations running on-premises and in Azure
• Develop workflows and light internal tools that replace manual, repetitive work
• Meet with staff across the University to understand a process before automating it
• Write queries and pull reports from University data sources
• Identify where AI tools and services can improve University processes, and build and support those solutions responsibly
• Document your work so someone else on the team can support it
• Monitor running automations and resolve failures
• Take on project and technical work assigned through our help desk team, and escalate issues outside your area, including network or permissions issues, to the right person
• Participate in occasional after-hours work for scheduled maintenance windows and integration issues, typically less than four hours per month

What you will bring

• 3-5 years of experience in systems administration, integration, IT engineering, or a similar technical role
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills, including scripts that call web APIs
• Practical experience working with REST APIs: authentication, working with JSON, and handling errors
• Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID
• Working knowledge of Active Directory and single sign-on concepts
• Understanding of reading and writing basic SQL queries
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Automate or similar workflow automation
• Comfort working on Windows Server: scheduled tasks, service accounts, permissions, and logs
• The ability to talk with non-technical staff, understand what they actually need, and turn that into a working solution
• Enough general IT breadth to recognize what kind of problem you're looking at and route it appropriately
• Good judgment handling confidential student and employee information, including awareness of the privacy considerations that come with using AI tools
• This is an onsite position based at Rivier University in Nashua, New Hampshire. Standard business hours, with occasional after-hours work as described above.
• Preferred experience with AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot Studio), Python scripting, web/internal tool development, and Azure Automation.
• Preferred experience with Power BI, Intune Management, and enterprise business systems, including student information systems.
• Prior experience working in higher education.
