Key Responsibilities:
Messaging Platform Administration & Support

  • Administer and support Microsoft Exchange Server (on-prem, hybrid) and Exchange Online.
  • Ensure availability, performance, reliability, and security of messaging systems.
  • Troubleshoot and triage complex issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Drive system improvements, upgrades, and modernization efforts.

Proofpoint Administration
  • Administer the Proofpoint email security suite (TRAP, TAP, EFD, SER, POD).
  • Tune policies to improve detection and reduce false positives.
  • Respond to email security incidents in coordination with security teams.

Automation & Engineering (Core Focus Area)
  • Build automation and workflows to handle daily messaging tasks.
  • Develop reusable PowerShell and Python modules, scripts, and utilities that include proper error handling, logging, and version control.
  • Use Microsoft Graph API to automate user lifecycle, mailbox management, reporting, and policy enforcement.
  • Build Power Automate workflows to orchestrate cross-system processes, approvals, and event-driven actions.
  • Continuously identify and eliminate manual processes through automation-first thinking.

Monitoring & Alerting
  • Configure monitoring and alerting across messaging platforms.
  • Build integrations between messaging systems and enterprise monitoring/SIEM tools in partnership with security and infrastructure teams.
  • Wire automation into alerts so detections trigger remediation actions.

Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement
  • Execute projects in the messaging space, including platform migrations, mail flow changes, and deployment work.
  • Partner with infrastructure and security teams on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process standardization and automation at scale.
  • Maintain technical documentation, code repos, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Code-first mindset: defaults to automating problems rather than performing them manually.
  • Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and Python, including building reusable modules, implementing proper error handling, and managing code through source control (e.G., Git).
  • Hands-on experience automating against Microsoft Graph API.
  • Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs (authentication, pagination, rate limits, JSON handling).
  • Experience building workflows in Power Automate or a comparable orchestration tool.
  • Experience administering Exchange Server and Exchange Online in hybrid environments.
  • Working knowledge of Proofpoint email security (TRAP, TAP, EFD, SER, POD).
  • Experience configuring monitoring and alerting for enterprise systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to operate under general direction, exercise sound judgment, and work independently to deliver results.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical systems.
  • Ability to partner effectively with infrastructure, security, identity, and support teams, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
