Systems Administrator - Fleet
The primary duty of the Fleet Systems Administrator is to manage the software systems used by the Fleet Department to acquire, operate, and maintain its inventory of vehicles and equipment with respect to acquisition, assignment, fueling, repair, maintenance, monitoring, reporting, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. Additional duties include providing technical support for operators and staff, preparing system documentation and manuals, and providing employee training on the use of Fleet’s software systems. Secondary duties may include performing industry research, prepare vehicle specifications, and produce the Fleet metrics.
Responsibilities:System Maintenance: Install, configure, test, and maintain Fleet’s integrated software applications and hardware, to ensure optimal performance. Software applications include the AssetWorks suite of software programs –
Fleet Management Information System (M5)
Automated Fuel Management Software (FuelFocus)
Fleet GPS Tracking and Telematics (AssetWorks GPS)
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with software, operating systems, and network connectivity.
Security & Compliance: Apply security patches, manage user access/permissions, and adhere to security standards.
Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and identify upgrades to improve efficiency.
Documentation: Prepare documentation for systems, disaster recovery, and operational procedures.
Reporting: Schedule and produce built-in and ad hoc reports that help optimize the operations of the department’s assets.
Support: Provide technical support and train users in software and hardware installation and usage.
Develop and maintain the Fleet Parts Interface.
Ensure functionality of Fleet Pool Car Request site.
SECONDARY AND SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS
Assist the Supply Chain Engineer and Fleet Technical Support Analyst in the production of the annual Fleet Capital Budget:
Perform and review of the Fleet Lifecycle Analysis.
Determine technical specifications and obtain estimated costs for fleet vehicles, equipment, and upfit components.
Write specifications for bidding documents.
Inspect and verify that vehicles and equipment meet contracted specifications during upfit process and at delivery.
Assist Supply Chain Engineer in the preparation of the Fleet Metrics.
Data collection and analysis.
Report preparation and presentation using MS Excel.
Assist in monitoring operating budget.
Track monthly and YTD spending.
Investigate variances.
Assist in other special projects and tasks, such as:
Determine optimal schedules to minimize downtime and corrective maintenance.
Pool car and rental reservations.
Smith Driver training.
Forklift training.
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Network and Systems Administration, or related field.
3 to 5 years relevant work experience.
Must have demonstrated experience and proficiency in AssetWorks Fleet Management Information System (M5).
Must have outstanding ability to solve problems, troubleshoot complex issues, run diagnostics, and manage systems.
Must have outstanding attention to detail.
Must have outstanding computer skills, including MS Office and experience using work management systems.
Must be able to coordinate multiple activities under tight deadlines.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of vehicle and equipment technology a plus.
An Equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable in lieu of degree.
