Systems Administrator / Senior IT Support Specialist

Position Summary: As a Systems Administrator and Senior IT Support Specialist, you will manage, operate, sustain, and provide advanced support for Sigmatechs IT infrastructure. This dual-focus role serves as the primary technical escalation point for complex helpdesk tickets while actively administering enterprise networks, cloud services, and security compliance. In addition to internal infrastructure duties, you will provide critical technical, integration, and operational support for the Kuwait Security Assistance Liaison Office (KSALO) mission, supporting on-site and remote personnel out of our Crystal City location.

Specific Duties:

• Advanced Escalation Support: Serve as the senior technical escalation point for user support, managing requests through the IT Service Management (ITSM) ticketing system to isolate faults, make repairs, and restore service.
• Systems Administration: Administer and maintain Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Windows Server, and Microsoft 365 services (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams).
• Network & Infrastructure Support: Support and troubleshoot office networking equipment, including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and teleconference systems. Assist in managing and monitoring enterprise backup solutions.
• Endpoint & Security Management: Manage mobile devices and endpoints using Microsoft Intune. Assist in monitoring and enforcing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and compliance standards to safeguard proprietary data and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
• KSALO Mission Customer Support: Provide dedicated, high-level technical support to on-site and remote KSALO personnel, including international partners and contractor support staff. Resolve complex account issues and integrate systems as directed by mission leadership.
• Hardware & Software Provisioning: Analyze, recommend, and execute the ordering and purchasing of commercially available hardware and software required to support ongoing KSALO customer operations and mission requirements.
• Automation & Documentation: Utilize scripting (e.g., PowerShell) to automate repetitive IT tasks. Create and maintain detailed operational guides, network diagrams, and teleconference procedures.
• Site & Operations Support: Perform other duties as assigned, including providing general site support, facilitating on-site meetings, assisting with physical access control, and managing essential site supplies to ensure smooth day-to-day facility operations.

Required Experience:

Required Experience:

• 58 years of progressive, senior-level experience in IT helpdesk support and systems administration.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and networking issues (VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing).
• Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft Active Directory and M365 cloud services.
• Experience managing workflows within an ITSM or IT ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Zammad).
• Experience with IT procurement, hardware/software lifecycle management, and vendor communications.
• Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills tailored to high-level stakeholders.
• Highly detail-oriented with a proven ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects and work independently with minimal direct supervision.

Desired Experience:

• Experience working with foreign government officials, senior military officers, and international partners.
• Experience working in a DoD contractor or highly regulated compliance environment (e.g., CMMC, NIST 800-171, Microsoft 365 GCC High).
• Experience writing and modifying PowerShell scripts for system administration.
• Familiarity with enterprise backup repositories and virtualization platforms.

Required Education & Certifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR 8+ years of dedicated, relevant IT systems experience in lieu of a degree.
• CompTIA Security+ (Must currently possess OR have the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment to meet DoD 8140/8570 baseline requirements).

Security Clearance & Work Requirements:

• Security Clearance: Must possess an active DoD Secret security clearance OR have the ability to obtain and maintain one. (U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance).
• Work Schedule: Must be able to support flexible work schedules and occasional after-hours contingencies to support mission requirements and infrastructure maintenance.
• Physical Demands: Ability to disconnect, move, and connect equipment; involves occasional lifting of IT equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and maneuvering in tight spaces (e.g., under desks, server racks).

The salary range for this role is $115,000 to $140,000; however, Sigmatech considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, experience, education/training, key skills, location and often contractual requirements.
