The Department of Transportation (DOT) plans, develops, operates, and maintains transportation facilities, services, and related systems which contribute to the livability and economic health of the City. The Department of Transportation is supported by its own IT team. The DOT IT team coordinates, develops, and delivers all activity surrounding technology, innovation, and strategic IT investments to support the department and transportation network of the future. The DOT IT team works across departments to ensure that City IT governance, policies, and procedures are followed when implementing new and existing technology solutions.
Position Duties
The Department of Transportation is currently seeking to fill 1 or more vacancies in the Administrative Services division. This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.
Under direct supervision of the Information Systems Analyst, the System Applications Programmer (SAP) I/II will:

Minimum Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
Experience: One (1) year experience in computer systems applications programming.
Acceptable Substitutions: Additional years of directly related work experience may be substituted for up to a maximum of two (2) years of the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. There will be no substitute for the one (1) year work experience requirement.
Certifications/Licenses: Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in the State of California.

Selection Process:
The selection process will consist of an evaluation of the applicants training and experience based on the application and responses to all the job specific questions. Only those candidates whose backgrounds best match the position will be invited to proceed in the selection process. Additional phases of the selection process will consist of one or more interviews.
