Job Description: The client is seeking an expert Systems Architect to support the Department of Transportation (DOT) Transportation Safety Management and Operations (TSMO) Technology Program. The role focuses on enterprise architecture strategy, IT/OT convergence, technology governance, cybersecurity alignment, and architecture modernization. The ideal candidate will translate organizational goals into enterprise technology strategies, define future-state architecture, establish standards and roadmaps, govern enterprise solutions, and guide secure interoperability across transportation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate business and strategic objectives into IT/OT architecture strategy
- Develop enterprise architecture frameworks across business, data, application, and technology domains
- Define future-state enterprise architecture and technology roadmaps
- Establish standards and principles for technology selection and integration
- Design IT/OT convergence strategies for interoperability and secure data flow
- Govern solution architecture alignment with enterprise standards
- Provide architectural oversight to solution architects and project teams
- Manage enterprise technical debt and modernization initiatives
- Communicate architecture vision and roadmap to leadership
- Support enterprise technology investment decisions
- Facilitate collaboration between business and technical stakeholders
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support limited travel within the Capital District region
- Ensure compliance with NDA, fingerprinting, and NY State Police background requirements
- Participate in annual state training and governance activities

- 72 months experience with IT/OT convergence and secure architecture integration
- 72 months experience in transportation domain operations, safety regulations, and traffic management
- 48 months experience stakeholder management and translating business objectives into technology roadmaps
- 48 months leadership experience working across technical and non-technical teams
