The Database Architect is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing enterprise?grade database environments across on?premises and cloud platforms. This role leads modernization efforts from legacy SQL systems, establishes data architecture standards, and partners with cross?functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, high?performance data solutions.
• Architect, implement, and optimize enterprise database management systems.
• Define and enforce data architecture standards, controls, and documentation.
• Lead database modernization and legacy?to?cloud migration efforts.
• Design data models, schemas, storage strategies, and capacity plans.
• Optimize performance through query tuning, indexing, and configuration management.
• Design and manage data pipelines, ingestion, and integration workflows.
• Ensure data security, governance, compliance, and auditability.
• Advise development and business teams on database capabilities and best practices.
• Collaborate with cloud, DevOps, and data engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Deep expertise with enterprise DBMS platforms (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Advanced SQL skills including optimization, indexing, and stored procedures.
• Strong experience with data modeling, schema design, and warehouse architectures.
• Experience managing data across hybrid cloud and on?prem environments.
• Knowledge of NoSQL architectures and use cases.
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools and data integration frameworks.
• Strong understanding of data security, access controls, and governance.
• Proven ability to create enterprise?wide data architecture roadmaps.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent advanced degree experience.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active Top Secret clearance required at time of hire.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
• Strong collaboration across technical and non?technical stakeholders.
• Clear documentation and communication in fast?paced environments.
