--- Project Description ---
This position will assist in support of the Department of Labor's (DOL)
operational functions which include design, implementation, management
of solutions, and support of the new Unemployment Insurance System.
The consultant will work closely with clients to understand their business
needs, architect robust solutions, and provide guidance and support.
--- Day-to-Day Tasks ---
1. Solution Design and Architecture:
2. Designing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud architectures on GCP
that meet business requirements.
3. Selecting appropriate GCP services (e.g., Compute Engine, Kubernetes
Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, etc.) for
specific use cases.
4. Creating high-level and detailed technical designs, including network
topology, data flow, security controls, and disaster recovery strategies.
5. Ensuring architectural best practices are followed, such as cost
optimization, performance tuning, and adherence to industry standards.
6. Technical Guidance:
7. Providing guidance to development and operations teams.
8. Mentoring junior engineers and sharing expertise on GCP services and
cloud architecture.
9. Collaborating with stakeholders, including business analysts, project
managers, and other technical teams, to understand requirements and
translate them into technical solutions.
10. Implementation and Deployment:
11. Overseeing the implementation and deployment of cloud solutions on
GCP.
12. Developing and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like
Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.
13. Configuring and managing GCP services, including virtual machines,
containers, databases, and networking components.
14. Implementing CI/CD pipelines for automated application deployment
and management.
15. Security and Compliance:
16. Designing and implementing robust security measures on GCP,
including identity and access management (IAM), network security, data
encryption, and threat detection.
17. Ensuring solutions comply with relevant industry regulations and
compliance standards (e.g., Pub 1075, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
18. Working with authorized security teams on conducting security reviews
and vulnerability assessments.
19. Performance Optimization and Cost Management:
20. Monitoring the performance of cloud applications and infrastructure.
21. Identifying and implementing performance optimizations.
22. Developing strategies for cost management and optimization on GCP,
including resource rightsizing, reserved instances, and cost allocation.
23. Troubleshooting and Support:
24. Diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues related to GCP
services and cloud applications.
25. Providing ongoing support and maintenance for deployed solutions.
26. Participating in on-call rotations for critical incidents.
27. Documentation:
28. Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation for
architectures, designs, and implementations.
--- Required Qualifications ---
" 72 months of experience in the Design and architect solutions tailored to
client-specific requirements, designing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud
architectures on GCP. This includes selecting appropriate GCP services for
specific use cases. Creating high-level and detailed technical designs,
including network topology, data flow, security controls, and disaster
recovery strategies.
Ensuring architectural best practices are followed, such as cost optimization,
performance tuning, and adherence to industry standards.
" 84 months of experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services including
overseeing the implementation and deployment of cloud solutions on GCP.
Development and management of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like
Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager. Configuring and managing GCP
services, including virtual machines, containers, databases, and networking
components.
Implementing CI/CD pipelines for automated application deployment and
management.
