ABOUT THE ROLEWe are partnering with a regional bank in the New York City area (hybrid) seeking a Financial Crime Systems Data Analyst to join its Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) function.
This role sits within the second-line AFC organization and supports the bank s BSA/AML and sanctions compliance technology infrastructure. The position serves as a key subject matter resource for AFC data, working across Compliance, Technology, and external vendors to help ensure the accuracy, effectiveness, and optimization of transaction monitoring and sanctions screening systems.
The role is heavily focused on data analysis, system performance evaluation, reporting, and supporting ongoing enhancements to AFC platforms, data governance frameworks, and financial crime risk management initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIESAFC Systems & Data Ownership- Act as a subject matter expert for BSA/AML and sanctions screening systems data, including upstream and downstream data feeds
- Document and maintain end-to-end data flows, mappings, and system integrations across source and target environments
- Manage business requirements documentation, data mapping, and validation processes
System Performance & Optimization- Support calibration, tuning, and performance optimization of transaction monitoring and sanctions screening systems
- Assist with model validation, system risk assessments, and ongoing effectiveness reviews
- Support system upgrades, rule testing, and data feed validation under AFC Systems leadership
Data Analysis & Reporting- Develop recurring and ad hoc reporting to support AFC stakeholders and senior leadership decision-making
- Analyze system outputs to identify trends, anomalies, and control gaps
- Design and execute SQL queries to validate data integrity, identify issues, and support investigative analysis
- Develop Python-based scripts to support data extraction, validation, and reporting automation
Data Quality & Issue Management- Identify data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate remediation with relevant stakeholders
- Track remediation plans and support resolution of data and system-related issues
- Contribute to data control enhancements and governance initiatives
Regulatory & Audit Support- Support internal audit requests, regulatory examinations, and compliance reviews related to AFC systems and data
- Assist in preparing documentation and responses for oversight and testing activities
Process Improvement & Governance- Support standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across AFC systems and BSA/AML data processes
- Contribute to the enhancement of data governance frameworks and control environments
