    We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team and support our client in Ashburn, VA. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of system design, software requirements, and the relationship between technical architecture and business objectives. This role is ideal for a professional who can bridge user needs, software design, and systems integration while contributing in a collaborative Agile environment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop software and system requirements that align with mission objectives and business needs.
    • Support the analysis and review of software architectures operating across multiple platforms and technologies.
    • Evaluate solutions involving environments and languages such as RHEL, C/C++, Java, and Python.
    • Assess the interaction between software and hardware components to ensure overall system effectiveness.
    • Gather and interpret end-user needs and help translate them into functional software design inputs.
    • Contribute to the development of design documentation, requirements artifacts, and solution planning materials.
    • Work collaboratively within a large Agile development team.

    Work Experience and Job Skills:

    • Experience working directly with the design, testing, integration, or operation of systems with significant software requirements.
    • Experience developing requirements specifications, design documentation, user interface mockups, and related software design artifacts.
    • Experience incorporating user feedback into solution design and refinement activities.
    • Experience developing Agile design artifacts and supporting iterative delivery.
    • Familiarity with software architecture concepts across multiple operating systems and programming environments.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems thinking skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with audiences at varying technical levels.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field is required.
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of strict degree requirements, based on client standards.

    Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

    • Relevant systems engineering, Agile, or technical certifications are a plus.
    • Additional certifications may be considered based on program requirements.

    Communication Skills:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to gather information, clarify requirements, and translate technical concepts for different audiences.
    • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across technical teams and stakeholders.

    Clearance Requirements:

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust position and favorable suitability determination based on a CBP background investigation is required.

    Travel:

    • This is a hybrid position based in Ashburn, VA, with onsite support expected one to two days per week and additional onsite presence as required by mission needs.

    Environmental Requirements:

    • Mainly a routine office environment.
    • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds.
    • Flexible in working extended hours.
