Systems Engineer (Configuration Management) – Contract

Company: System One
Location: Remote (U.S.) | Travel up to 25%
Duration: Through 2026 with potential extension into 2027
Schedule: 40 hours/week

Position Overview

System One is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer (Configuration Management) to support advanced nuclear power plant design programs. This role will focus on implementing and improving product-based configuration management (CM) processes to ensure consistency, traceability, and compliance across complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of configuration management (CM) processes
  • Support product-based CM, including:
    • Bills of materials (BOMs)
    • Dataset traceability
    • KPI development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve design processes and reduce risk
  • Enhance and support change control processes
  • Partner with PLM teams to implement improvements within Aras Innovator
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • NQA-1
    • ASME
    • NRC regulations
    • ISO 9001
  • Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 10+ years of Configuration Management experience
  • Strong experience with:
    • CM standards (CM2, EIA-649)
    • Product structures & BOMs
    • PLM systems (Aras Innovator preferred)
  • Experience developing and implementing CM processes and procedures
  • Background in highly regulated environments (NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B preferred)
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nuclear or power generation industry
  • Configuration Management certification (CM2-C or similar)
  • Familiarity with DOE regulations (10 CFR Part 810)

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
