We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our high-performing team on a dynamic, mission-focused program. This program leverages software engineering, development of web-based applications, and serverless infrastructures (AWS C2S). This position is in Herndon, VA.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and evaluate technical systems and development processes
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle including design, engineering, configuration, test planning/development, test execution analysis, and performance optimization
  • Assisting the Customer with establishing and executing processes and procedures for managing system definition, development, and operations
  • Expand or modify Customer’s systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow
  • Assist the Customer with establishing standards in systems engineering
  • Interface with Government engineering lab and contractors on customer projects (ensuring data conditioning and Linux data schemas are consistent for ingest)
  • Perform strategic planning for system and technology evolution for specified Sponsor activities
  • Collaborate with the other partner organizations to provide input on strategic plans and architecture framework
  • Participate in Engineering Review Boards or other technical forums
  • Design, optimize, administer, and manage private and hybrid cloud environments
  • Provide emerging cloud technology solutions including server virtualization, network virtualization, virtual network appliances and cloud management systems
  • Implement a data management system in a cloud environment
  • Advise and provide ways to effectively use Customer and commercial cloud computing services

Requirements:
  • 10+ years’ experience in configuration management.
  • Experience communicating with both technical and non-technical individuals and working on a team
  • Experience with Linux, Windows, Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos and other utilities and/or services such as remote desktop, SSH and command line interface
  • Demonstrated experience in cloud architecture integration, such as AWS cloud computing services
  • Demonstrated experience deploying, configuring or architecting physical, virtual or cloud-based solutions
  • Demonstrated experience defining and architecting end-to-end data flow architecture and data management systems
  • Demonstrated experience performing data center architecture and design, consolidation, optimization, administration, engineering, and management of private and hybrid cloud environments
  • Demonstrated on-the-job experience in a physical and virtualized infrastructures (e.g., Proxmox, AWS)
  • Experience preparing required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation
  • Good understanding of data transfer protocols like FTP, SFTP, TFTP, HTTP, HTTPS
  • Knowledge of network topology, protocols, and debugging on Windows/Linux systems
  • Experience collaborating closely with the ISSM and other customer security elements as required
  • US citizenship with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance
 
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Assurance (IA) policies such as ICD 503 to ensure system security and data integrity
  • Experience deploying the complete DevOps lifecycle including integration of build pipelines, automated deployments, and compliance scanning using test drive development
  • Experience with data encryption within a secure environment
  • Experience using Agile methodologies and participation in an Agile software or systems engineering team

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00
Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
